Musee ASIATICA presents an exceptional exhibition
on the occasion of the 60th anniversary of the independence of India:
it is entitled “PORTRAITS OF MAHARAJAS”.
It displays some original photographs drawn towards
the end of the 19th century by an English studio situated in India,
at Mhow, and whose photographs have been acquired by Musee ASIATICA.
They are therefore original and authentic and published for the
first time in the world. The enlargements have been made for better
viewing of the details of the costumes of the Princes who wear magnificent
earrings.
Each photograph of Maharaja, of the Nawab or Begum
is explained relating to the geography of their State, giving the
date of birth and the accession to the throne of these Princes.
Moreover, some documents show the precedence between
these nobles, the military or honorary medals that they have received
from Queen Victoria and some other historical details.
More than 50 portraits are exhibited to start
from the 1st September and entry is free.
